Democratic Candidate Chris Garner is the choice to replace Mikulski in the United States Senate. His effort pushing the reindustrialization of the United States is the key political concept that has been missing from the economic process long deteriorated by the continued misapplication of Keynesian and Friedman economics. This depression was generated within the Congress and not uncontrollable forces exterior to the United States. The solutions lie within the future decisions made in Washington.
A major cause of this depression is in fact that government, long ago, believed that, due to the decreasing manufacturing base within the United States, the only economic buttons it could push was to inflate the construction industry. This over inflation of the construction industry has led to a multiyear backlog of homes, the loss of value in the real estate market in the trillions of dollars and by extension the rapid increase in the Federal Debt to over 13 trillion dollars and is rapidly increasing. A contributing cofactor is the Trade Deficit of over half a trillion dollars and accelerating.
The ramification of the depletion of US manufacturing is now the inability to grow our economy. Failed stimulus packages only stoked the size of the national debt and temporarily postponed the ultimate economic failure of the United States. Existing policies have led the United States down a path to third world nationhood exemplified by the loss of manufacturing capability, loss of technology, loss of skilled jobs and increase in all other factors which dictate failure.
The solutions to this quandary are to go back to the basics. That means a reigning in of the size of government and decision making, leading to Creation of Core Value within the economy. My efforts will be directed as follows:
The working men and women of America must become a priority. They must not be replaced with illegal foreign workers. The wages of this group has continuously fallen due to illegals and loss of manufacturing in the United States. I am running for office to specifically return the focus of the Democratic Party back to the welfare of American citizens and not special interests. My website contains a more detailed discussion of topic at WWW.GarnerforSenate.com.
All elected leaders need to be advocates for US products which are still the best in the world. The normal natural tendency to respect our national products has been missing from the citizenry. During this campaign I have driven my 1994 Dodge minivan (Bob the Minivan) which was made in the United States and yesterday turned 200,000. This vehicle is not manufactured in the United States any more but in Canada. Recently, the first lady did not chose to vacation in the United States she went to Spain. She should have shown national pride and duty, and visited along the Gulf Coast. I am an advocate for national products and as an engineer I can attest to their value. I recently attended a Jefferson Jackson Dinner a major Democratic fund raiser. Four of five cars in the parking lot were foreign.
Free and fair trade should be a priority for the United States. The United States has long ago agreed in principle that its citizens and corporations could freely purchase goods and services from almost anywhere. What is missing from this equation is that normally it would be expected that our trading partners would complement our purchases with purchases of their own. This is not happening. This is solvable with appropriate tariffs or outright trade restrictions. For example there are countries with huge trade surpluses with the United States and have minimal Boeing commercial aircraft in their fleets. Boeing offers the technically best and most efficient aircraft in the world.
